Mechanical Trades - Fitter
About the role
We have several new vacancies available for a Tradesperson - Mechanical to join our Pelletising Maintenance Team. The position reports to the Maintenance Team Leader, working an attractive 4,3,3,4 roster.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing planned preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure the condition and productive capacity of the Plant meets production targets
- Using your fault finding ability, troubleshooting and rectifying plant problems
- Working in a safe, professional, and timely manner, following all SIMEC Mining’s standards and procedures
- Performing all work to a high-quality standard.
About your experience
To be successful in the role you will be a self-starter with the drive to complete any task you are given. This role will challenge and reward you; it will see you work in a strong team with a focus on safety performance and maintaining a reliable plant.
Other things that will support your application:
- Must have cert 3 Engineering - Mechanical
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Previous experience in similar roles in heavy industry or manufacturing experience would be desirable
- Forklift, EWP, Dogging, Working at Heights, and Confined Space tickets are desirable
- Experience with conveyor belts, bearings, gear boxes, large rotating equipment, lubrication, alignment and fitting would be advantageous
- Ability to work flexibly to meet plant production targets.

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Administration functions and ore processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney. This role is based at the Magnetite Pelletising Plant, also located within the city limits of Whyalla.
