Tradesperson: Fitter, Machinist, Instrumentation - Whyalla Steelworks

We’re looking for motivated and reliable Tradespeople to join our operation at the Whyalla Steelworks. You will be a key member of our integrated maintenance crew, focused on maintaining the reliability and performance of plant equipment through both preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
With multiple roles available we are seeking Tradespeople with qualifications in:
- Fitting
- Machining
- Instrumentation
These are 12 hour rotating Day and Night Shift positions
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fault finding and reactive repairs to plant and mechanical equipment to minimise downtime and restore functionality.
- Complete scheduled maintenance activities, including during planned plant shutdowns.
- Provide technical support to production, maintenance management, and reliability teams to improve asset performance.
- Accurately record all maintenance activities in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – SAP.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures and work standards, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and effectively.
- Assist in planning and executing maintenance strategies to align with operational goals and long-term asset care plans.
To be successful you will have;
- Australian Trade qualifications (minimum of Certificate III)
- A strong commitment to safety
- Knowledge and experience in hydraulic systems
- Experience in fault finding and troubleshooting repairs on various plant equipment
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred, but not essential
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations within a manufacturing environment
- Physical stamina and ability to work on your feet
