Liberty Primary Steel, a member of GFG Alliance, operates integrated steelworks which include ironmaking, steel making, and rolling-mill facilities located in coastal Whyalla, approximately 400km from Adelaide.

About the role

Reporting into the Electrical Services Manager, the main purpose of this critical position is to lead and deliver centralised competitive, high performance Technical Instrumentation Services, Technical Electrical Services and Electronic Repair Services through:

  • Using your subject-matter expertise and inter-personal skills to lead the team towards world class maintenance practice, through coaching, mentoring, development and team leadership.
  •  Manage the planning of pro-active preventative maintenance work, spare parts, budgets, sub-contractors and suppliers to highest industry standards, supporting our 24/7 operations.
  • Leading improvement initiatives and projects to keep our technology in-line with 21st century norms
  • Participation in strategic and operational excellence initiatives

About your experience

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership experience that aligns to our core values of safety and customer, culture and environmental impacts. As well as:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification; Engineering or at a technician level in Instrumentation
  • Leadership experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing, maintenance and reliability methodologies and improvement processes.
  • Budgeting and Project Management skills
