SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW.  Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges.  Administration functions and ore processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.

About the role

Based in Whyalla the Superintendent Supply Chain Planning is the key scheduler in the short to medium planning space. The position provides the link between all activities in the SIMEC Iron Ore Operations supply and production stream through to customer.

You will also:

  • Plan & schedule the flow of material from mines and processing plants through the logistics chain to mines and export customers to achieve delivery performance, maximise contribution, and optimise inventory holdings
  • Provide forecasting for financial modelling within the 1 month to 24 month space to set business targets
  • Review annual plans and forecasts for macro-production, raw material demand and inventory, identifying potential risks within the supply chain
  • Support the Marketing group in ongoing customer queries and negotiations
  • Provide feedback to marketing and lead investigation for customer quality concerns

About your experience

The ideal candidate will be a strong relationship builder who can positively influence stakeholders. This person will enjoy taking on new challenges as well as taking ownership of their work.

You will also have;

  • Several years experience in supply chain and scheduling
  • Demonstrate understanding of supply chain and product outputs
  • A good understanding of financial systems and methodologies
  • A background in mining, supply chain, logistics, processing, finance, manufacturing or similar
