Senior Metallurgist
About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent Process Improvements and Integration (Metallurgy), you will be accountable for providing the operating strategy across the Fixed Plant including Crusher and Concentrator, and providing support for operational improvement work (Productivity Improvements, Cost Reduction, Increasing Plant Availability and Recovery).
Key responsibilities include:
- Ongoing development and optimisation of feed management process, including formulation of Blends for the crusher and monitoring concentrator performance and adjusting feed accordingly
- Ensure compliance with long-term feed consumption plans and investigate feed-related issues impacting plant yield and quality
- Create monthly technical reports on feed performance against targets and compliance
- Regular plant inspections and reviewing of Fixed Plant KPIs to help with making plant adjustments and formulating strategies for the plants to meet target in-spec production
- Troubleshoot process and operational issues and monitor wear on components of key equipment to maintain efficiency and extend equipment life
- Identify and implement new opportunities to improve the performance of the plants
- Liaise closely with both internal and external customers, ensuring target KPIs and compliance requirements are met
You are safety and solution focused, have a continuous improvement mindset with a strong desire to succeed. Your background as a Metallurgist in Mining Industry with Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering graduation is beneficial for this role.
Skills and experience required:
- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated experience working with a primary ore processing environment, minimum 5 years’ experience preferred
- Sound understanding of primary metallurgical processes
- Demonstrated ability with problem solving processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated passion for outcomes
- Ability to make effective decisions within set parameters
- Ability to work within a team environment
