Procurement Officer
About The Role
Reporting to the Senior Buyer, this role generates value for the Whyalla businesses from the engagement of contractors and suppliers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage sourcing events up to $1m
- Raise purchase orders to approved requisitions within procurement sourcing guidelines
- Ensuring tender timelines deliver outcomes in accordance with overall portfolio of work
- Provide market engagement, including in depth knowledge of suppliers of services
- Work in a business partnering relationship with a number of key stakeholders across the business to achieve the best outcomes for the company
- Ensuring visibility and understanding of leading-edge sourcing strategies and practices
You’re approachable, friendly, and ideally bring experience from mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry — though transferable skills from other sectors are also valued. With a strong work ethic and a proactive, “go-getter” attitude, you thrive in dynamic environments and are confident managing competing priorities.
About You:
- Certificate IV in Purchasing (or similar qualification) or equivalent experience – desirable but not essential
- Experience in sourcing for, or managing within, a complex organisational environment (such as manufacturing or industrial) – desirable but not essential
- Purchasing or administration is highly regarded
- Experience in SAP and accounts payable is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- High level of analytical skills with proven ability to model, analyse and summarise data
