Process Technician

About the role

An opportunity has become available for a Process Technician - Electrical to join our Iron Baron team.   This role is offered on a fixed term, full time 12 month contract and works a shift roster (inclusive of days/nights).    


The rotating roster is 4 days/5 off, 5 nights /4 off, 5 days/5 off, 4 nights/4 off  – 12 hour shifts.


Main duties:

 

  • Plant maintenance activity ensuring reliable electrical service and maintenance of plant and equipment without compromising production quality.
  • Adhering to work and safety instruction by taking an active role in contributing to building a safety culture.
  • Ensuring practical operation of plant equipment including operating process control systems
  • Demonstrate ability to identify faults through the use of fault-finding techniques with the ability to troubleshoot and rectify problems with use of electrical trade as required
  • Provision of technical support for all electrical issues and standardise the plant, equipment, services and systems where practical
  • Working in a professional, timely and safe manner following all SIMEC Mining’s standards and procedures.


To be successful in the role you will be a self-starter with the drive to complete any task you are given.   This role will see you work in a strong cross functional team with a focus on safety performance.


Key skills:

 

  • Electrical trade qualification is mandatory
  • High Voltage license and experience required.
  • Ability to work in a role encompassing both operational and maintenance duties.
  • Previous operational experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process systems including ability to operate control systems is desirable
  • Ability to diagnose and apply fault finding techniques
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

SIMEC Mining Iron Ore has operations in South Australia and New South Wales. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla consists of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges.
