About our team

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla; consist of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Whyalla is a diverse coastal community based approximately 400 km from Adelaide.

About the role

Supporting the General Manager- Transformation, our SIMEC business is looking for a proactive Continuous Improvement Principal to help design, govern and maintain a new company-wide improvement and development program that drives the creation and delivery of strategic objectives. Some of your key duties will include: 

•    Develop a SIMEC Management Operating System, using the existing models and knowledge of best practice benchmarks 
•    Develop and oversee effective implementation programs responsible for maintenance of continuous improvement system
•    Partnering with the senior internal stakeholders to implement the MOS and continuous improvement programs within their teams 
•    Tracking the learning and development of the new improvement and development plans ensuring its successful implementation across SIMEC.  


This role will require extensive travel across the sites in Whyalla and occasional travel to Tahmoor.

About your experience

These are exciting times for the business! We are looking for someone who has demonstrated experience really driving the success of new initiatives. Some key requirements of the role include:

•    5+ years’ experience in Operations  
•    Bachelors and/or Post-graduate qualification within Engineering or Business
•    Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and/or Lean Coach certification are both are highly desirable
•    Deep understanding of business improvement methodology covering a range of industry-recognised approaches.  
•    Data-based decision-maker, able to be creative and curious with proven leadership skills able to coach and mentor
