Process Engineer

About the role

Reporting to the Technology Manager Steelmaking, this role will primarily center on providing technical support for the Steelmaking Department and coordinating and managing the metallurgical process improvement activities across the steelmaking process. You will also contribute to the Quality Management System and participate in Six Sigma business initiatives.


Key responsibilities:

  • Achieving cost effective and capable processes
  • Defining measures and reporting systems on key process variables
  • Developing and implementing continuous improvement on process management systems
  • Advancing operational improvement, plant security and availability
  • Educating and training the team on various metallurgical processes.

About your experience

Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, and tech-savvy individual who has relevant steelmaking / pyro-metallurgical experience in a similar role within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry sector. You enjoy working in a dynamic collaborative environment and are comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders. 


You also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or similar 
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing methodologies
  • Experience with Process Control, Process Development and Process Management systems
  • Sound understanding of Six Sigma is advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
