Power and Services Operations Manager

Liberty Primary Steel, a member of GFG Alliance, operates integrated steelworks which include ironmaking, steel making, and rolling-mill facilities located in coastal Whyalla, approximately 400km from Adelaide.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Ironmaking, your principle responsibility will be to lead our Power and Services team, who are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the interworks distribution systems throughout the steelworks, generating internal power and supplying wind to the Blast Furnace. This includes the by-product gas systems, natural gas, LPG, fuel oil, distillate, electricity, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, freshwater, saltwater and compressed air systems.

The key responsibilities for this role:

  • Deliver the annual planned production of Power and Services
  • Direct and coordinate the operations, maintenance and process functions within the Power and Services team
  • Ensure key systems such as quality, safety and environment are embedded
  • Drive operational excellence in production methods, maintenance coordination and unit production costs through continuous improvement
  • Deliver lowest cost power production
About your experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification; Engineering, Metallurgy, Commercial, Business Management or similar
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in the Manufacturing industry
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing methodologies and improvement processes
  • Ability to influence people to achieve desired results
  • Experience in managing significant budgets
  • Demonstrated experience managing manufacturing assets to achieve outcomes
