Pit Technician

About the role

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, your primary responsibility will be production sample management, ore control and assisting in geotechnical/ geological data collection. You will have a high focus on Life Saver Rules as part of your daily tasks and providing timely and accurate safety observations. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Production and Grade Control data entry
  • Sample preparation, collection, submission, and data management
  • Sample contractor management and QAQC governance
  • Ensure timely and accurate sample dispatch to assay laboratories
  • Monitor mining areas for anomalies that may impact mining and report immediately
  • Contractor management, liaising with Contractors and Stakeholders as required
  • Assist with Project drilling campaigns
  • Collect geological data (e.g. Magnetic Susceptibility)
  • Stock take management, ordering and pick up of supplies
  • Geotechnical data collection and assisting with prism and depress hole installation under direction of Mine Geologists and Senior Pit Technician
  • Supervise ore extraction to maximise recovery and minimise dilution

 

About your experience

We are looking for a safety orientated individual that has a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to a fast paced environment.


You will also have:

  • 12 months relevant experience in mining and/or exploration
  • Current South Australian Drivers Licence
  • Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office products
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable)
  • 4WD operation and recovery skills (desirable)
  • Current approved and recognised forklift ticket (desirable)
  • Mechanical knowledge and skills (desirable)
