Mining Superintendent - SMR Mining
About the role
We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Mining Superintendent at the South Middleback Ranges (SMR) mine site. Reporting to the Mining Manager you will be responsible for the managing the safe operation of the SMR Mines, while maximizing efficacy in meeting agreed and planned customer volume, quality and delivery requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of weekly and monthly reporting
- Manage all contracts at SMR to ensure full delivery of contracted outcomes
- Responsible for managing full SMR compliance in line with any relevant legislations/regulations
- Delivery of a safe and healthy work environment while ensuring all safety incidents and actions are managed in a timely manner
- Develop and maintain an asset management system for the site infrastructure
- Develop, coach people and ensure the appropriate training is provided along with a consistent career development plan
- Provide continuous improvement of procedures and operating instructions as required by the Management Operating System
- Develop short term operational work plans for the SMR
- Foster a safe work and culture environment with a strong focus on rewarding performance and continuous improvement
About your experience
The ideal candidate will posses the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering (preferred), Geology, Survey or equivalent
- SA Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of mining methodologies and improvement processes
- Demonstrated leadership experience in mining operations
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build, develop and inspire success teams
- Develop, coach and mentor employees to improve engagement, diversity and capability
- A passion to network and form strong working relationships across the business
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement
About our team
SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south west of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Our Tahmoor Colliery in New South Wales, is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant, producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Administration functions and ore concentrating and pelletising and port facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.
The Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years. Our operations in Tahmoor NSW produce metallurgical coal for the steel making process where the business is currently investing to expand and extend the life of the operations.
