Mine Surveyor

About the role

Our expanding Whyalla mining site is looking for a skilled Mine Surveyor. You will be responsible for providing accurate, reliable and timely spatial data to minimise mining risks and facilitate efficient mining operations. Some of your key duties will include: 

  • Schedule, prioritise and undertake surveying tasks including GPS laser scanner and drone work
  • Establish and maintain accurate survey control networks using total station equipment available
  • Updating mine models, mining plans and statutory plans and communicating these effectively to internal and external stakeholders
  • Promotion of a safe, healthy, cooperative and productive work environment

About your experience

We are interested to speak Surveyors who are eager to work in mining or have had experience within the industry. Your motivation and passion for similar detailed work you have done will hold you in good stead when problem solving and advising stakeholders in this role. Some key things we look for in applicants for this position include:

  • A tertiary degree in surveying, science, geomatics or similar 
  • Proven experience working within a similar environment/role is ideal
  • Competent in using Pix4D, GPS laser scanners and CAD (any level) is highly desirable 
  • Ability to work autonomously

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our iron ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Iron Ore administration functions, pellet  processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla.
