Mine Surveyor
About the role
In this role, you will be supporting the Technical Service function by implementing, maintaining and continuously improving technical processes and systems within the mining operations. You will provide support to the Manager Technical Services and mining operations team with the key focus of production-based tasks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plan and facilitate the physical layout on the ground of all stages of the mining process from clearing and preparation through the mining and production cycle and mine closure
- Establish and maintain accurate digital database of monthly pit, dump and stockpile models for contractor payment and planning assessment
- Assess and quantify progress of all mining processes for the purpose of contractor payment and reconciliation of block models
- Assist geologists, engineers and other associated professionals with supply of spatial data for structure monitoring, environmental monitoring and rehabilitation of ground
- Mentor and teach young Surveyors and Survey Technicians to expand knowledge base and depth
- Understand & adhere to OHS responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities in the workplace as outlined in the relevant SIMEC OHS
We will support the relocation to Whyalla or can offer a FIFO arrangement with Adelaide as point of hire.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics or Spatial sciences or actively enrolled
- Degree in Surveying, Geomatics or Spatial Sciences highly desirable
- Ability to solve complex spatial and technical problems
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong safety and quality focus
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment
- Driver’s licence
