About our team

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges near to Whyalla; consist of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Whyalla is a diverse coastal community based approximately 400 km from Adelaide.

About the role

Reporting into the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will work across multiple departments to ensure the timely construction of new greenfield projects as well as expansion and re-opening of SIMEC’s brownfield sites. This role operates across both Mine Scheduling and Mine Engineering Project Management.

You will also be responsible for;

  • Executing continuous analysis of current operations and development and implementation of practical improvement strategies
  • Timely schedule delivery and reconciliation including scheduling of a single site with multiple operating areas, including mining, crushing, processing, and railing
  • Supporting a proactive HS&E culture and comply with applicable legislations and requirements
  • Ensuring re-opened mine operations and mining projects are delivered on time
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders are communicated with openly and their input valued and considered in the development of a final solution
About your experience

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a can-do attitude who has a keen mind for problem solving.

You will also have;

  • A practical Engineering Degree, Mining, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or minerals related discipline
  • Proven project management experience or experience in mine scheduling and data management
  • A good understanding of the practicalities of mining equipment and their safe operation
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • You will be a reliable individual who takes a proactive approach to your work
