Maintenance Planner

About the role

We are currently seeking to appoint two Maintenance Planners for our mining business.
One position will support our Pellet Plant operations, and the other will support our Hematite operations. The roles relate to activities required for mechanical, lubrication, Electrical and other elements of the plant assets and all associated infrastructure.

The role will focus on planning and scheduling maintenance activities where you will be responsible for taking strategy based and corrective maintenance work from the approved stage right through to the planned, resourced and assigned stage. 
Key responsibilities will include; 

  • Effective use of SAP to manage all aspects of maintenance planning function
  • Develop Weekly Maintenance job plans/ work packs to execute work in a timely manner
  • Developing task lists for the Fixed Plant – including contribution to the shutdown scheduling process
  • Procurement of parts (stock and non-stock items), materials and services for execution of work
  • Making changes to maintenance plans, work instructions, bills of materials etc. as required
  • Follow the process for Repair of damaged parts/equipment to ensure availability of spares at site

About your experience

The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification and will also have;

  • Strong safety and customer focus with good communication skills
  • Experience using computer maintenance management system (preferably SAP)
  • Experience using MS Excel and Project
  • Demonstrable experience in a heavy industrial plant or similar 24/7 production environment
  • Passion to challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for improvement and focus on results

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south west of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Our Tahmoor Colliery in New South Wales, is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant, producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Administration functions and ore pelletising and port facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney. 
The Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years. Our operations in Tahmoor NSW produce metallurgical coal for the steel making process where the business is currently investing to expand and extend the life of the operations.
