Instrumentation Fitter
About the role
In this role, you will work as part of a team to achieve targeted levels of plant availability through planned preventive and corrective maintenance in addition to any skilled response to urgent plant issues as required. This position is a permanent, full-time day shift role.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Complete repair and maintenance work orders to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Utilise and update maintenance reporting systems
- Install, maintain, and repair instruments and control systems
- Responsible for asset strategy, corrective maintenance and additional tasks through the internalisation of site services and breakdown support
- Engage with and support the site team more broadly when required
- Comply with all company policies, WH&S rules and regulations and hold safety as a core value

- Instrumentation Fitter trade qualified - Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control or Certificate IV in Electrical - Instrumentation
- Electrical licence is highly regarded
- Gas Type B competency preferred
- Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights desirable
- Experience in fault finding, maintaining equipment and installation
- Experience with SCADA, DCS, or PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
- Strong technical and electrical aptitude
- A self-starter with the drive to complete and go beyond any task given

Liberty Primary Steel operates the historic Whyalla Steelworks, approximately 400km from Adelaide. The integrated facility which includes ironmaking, steel making, and rolling-mill facilities is Australia’s only manufacturer of special grade billet and steel long products providing solutions for nation-building infrastructure including rail. It is also the future home of green steel with plans to construct an Electric Arc Furnace and Direct Reduction Iron facility fed by natural gas and hydrogen as part of the GFG’s journey to be carbon neutral by 2030.
