Finance Business Partner

About The Role:

The Finance Business Partner plays a critical role in supporting the short- and long-term sustainability of the Whyalla Steelworks. As a key member of the Area Operations Leadership Team, you will partner closely with operational leaders to improve business performance through strong commercial insight, financial leadership, and data-driven decision-making.

 

Acting as the trusted financial advisor across your designated production area, you will provide strategic commercial guidance, lead cost and cash management initiatives, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the on-site lead for the commercial team providing strategic commercial leadership and advice.
  • Working collaboratively with our Business Unit Manager to monitor the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and provide input to new cost saving opportunities.
  • Partner with leaders and their teams to improve financial and commercial performance in the areas you support
  • Contribute to the end of month financial process and develop reporting tools to effectively analyse and communicate results
  • Support the onsite teams through all project milestones and assist with business case development
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to develop annual business plans and quarterly forecast for the Steel Products unit

About You:

You are a high performing and results focused individual who enjoys driving change and is highly autonomous.

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to work to tight deadlines and adapt to changing situations quickly. You will be an analytical individual who can inspire and communicate well with stakeholders of all levels.

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • CPA or CA qualification - highly regarded
  • Previous experience working in the manufacturing or energy sector
  • Previous experience working in a complex commercial and operational environment
  • Strong analytical abilities and financial reporting skills with a good knowledge of financial methodologies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
