Finance Business Partner

About the role

Based in Whyalla, reporting into the Finance Manager - Operations, the focus of the Finance Business Partner is to provide commercial and financial support to our Steel Manufacturing Operations in Whyalla. You will be partnering with key stakeholders within the business in order to drive value and build commercial acumen.
 

Key Responsibilities include:
 

  • Be the face of the commercial team on site, providing strategic commercial leadership and advice.

  • Working collaboratively with our Business Unit Manager to monitor the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and provide input to new cost saving opportunities.

  • Partner with leaders and their teams to improve financial and commercial performance in the areas you support

  • Contribute to the end of month financial process and develop reporting tools to effectively analyse and communicate results

  • Support the onsite teams through all project milestones and assist with business case development

  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to develop annual business plans and quarterly forecast for the Steel Products unit

You will be an analytical individual who can inspire and communicate well with stakeholders of all levels.
 

You will also have:
 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Economics

  • CPA or CA qualification highly regarded

  • Previous experience working in the manufacturing or energy sector

  • Previous experience working in a complex commercial and operational environment

  • Strong analytical abilities and financial reporting skills with a good knowledge of financial methodologies

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.

About Us

A member of the GFG Alliance group, Liberty Primary Steel operates the historic Whyalla Steelworks, approximately 400km from Adelaide.  The integrated facility which includes ironmaking, steel making, and rolling-mill facilities is Australia’s only manufacturer of special grade billet and steel long products providing solutions for nation-building infrastructure including rail. It is also the future home of green steel with plans to construct an Electric Arc Furnace and Direct Reduction Iron facility fed by natural gas and hydrogen as part of the GFG’s journey to be carbon neutral by 2030.
