About the role

An opportunity has become available for an Electrician to join the Pellet Plant Maintenance Team. In this role you will work as part of a team to achieve targeted levels of plant availability through planned preventative and corrective maintenance. Reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Lead. This is a 12-hour day shift role – Tuesday to Thursday one week and Tuesday to Friday following week.


Key responsibilities will be:

 

  • Performing preventative corrective maintenance
  • Undertake Preventative inspections in accordance with maintenance plans and complete follow up action
  • Fault finding and repairing plant breakdowns
  • Coaching and mentoring apprentices 
  • Installing and commissioning ELV, LV and HV electrical equipment
  • PLC – Troubleshooting 

 
You are a reliable and safety-focused Electrical tradesperson who is an effective communicator, demonstrating success working independently as well as within a team environment.


You will have:

 

  • “A Class” electrical licence – Essential
  • Drivers licence
  • SAP experience desirable
  • Forklift and telehandler tickets
  • Elevated work platform license, working at heights, dogging are highly regarded
  • Understanding of safety procedures used when maintaining fixed plant
  • Experience in fixed plant maintenance within an industrial setting
  • PLC experience desirable 
  • Understanding of maintenance principles and plant improvement processes
  • Strong technical and electrical aptitude

SIMEC Mining Iron Ore has operations in South Australia and New South Wales. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla consists of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges.
