Liberty Primary Steel, a member of GFG Alliance, operates integrated steelworks which include ironmaking, steel making and rolling-mill facilities located in coastal Whyalla, approximately 400km from Adelaide.

About the role

As a Tradesperson Instrumentation, you will work as part of a team to achieve targeted levels of plant availability through planned preventive and corrective maintenance in addition to any skilled response to urgent plant issues as required. This position is a permanent, full time day shift role with the potential of picking up shift work opportunities as required. 

You will:

  • Complete repair and maintenance work orders to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Utilise and update maintenance reporting systems.
  • Engage with and support the site team more broadly when required.

In return you will be rewarded with a competitive salary with opportunity for overtime and 12-hour shift work based on demand. We offer relocation allowance for candidates outside of Whyalla.

About your experience

We would love to hear from self-starters who have industrial experience and a desire to prove themselves in a team environment. You should have good communication and organisation skills and align with our core vision of safety.

You will also have:

  • A Cert 3 or Cert 4 Instrumentation Fitter Trade Qualification is essential
  • A strong level of experience working in an industrial/heavy industry environment
  • A strong technical and electrical aptitude
  • Experience in fault finding, maintaining equipment and installation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • To demonstrate a personal commitment to safety in the workplace, complying with all company policies, WH&S rules and regulations and hold safety as a core value on our journey to Goal Zero

Any applicants that hold additional qualifications including dual trades (Electrical/Instrumentation), HV switching, PLC I & II and current high-risk work licences will be highly regarded.

We would consider all levels of candidates with hands-on experience within Instrumentation, including those who have only recently completed their Trade Certificate.
