Electrical Engineer
About the role
Currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. This position will provide high level electrical design and technical support ensuring compliance with relevant standards and statutory regulations. The Electrical Engineer will also maintain a currency of technology and best practices within the high voltage power reticulation systems, project engineering and electrical design fields to provide cost effective solutions.
About the role:
- Provides short-term and long-term, technical support to maintenance and operations personnel within the Magnetite Stream through troubleshooting, engagement of subject matter experts and development of quality engineering solutions in a timely manner.
- Ensures the development of work scopes, design requirements for all allocated work packages, ensuring these are issued on time and cover the project requirements and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uses processes necessary to monitor and control the project to ensure timely completion within budget
- Understand and ensure compliance with SIMEC Mining Environment & OH&S Policy, OH&S Policy Guidelines, Codes of Practice and Safe Systems of Work. .
- Working with PLC, VSD and performing Electrical projects from conception, through the design process to implementation
- Identify short to long-term improvement opportunities regarding the plant’s reliability and asset management
- Technical support and trouble shooting regarding electrical maintenance and process issues on day to day projects
- Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, from superintendents and managers through to tradesmen and suppliers
Qualifications & Technical Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in Mining, manufacturing or other production environment
- Competency in structured data analysis and logical investigation methods (such as RCA, FMECA etc.)
- Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management system
- Producing budgets and financial reporting
- PC Computer skills including Microsoft office applications and remote access software (Skype, Zoom)
- Experienced in use of AS3000, AS3008, AS 3007, AS1768, AS3760 etc., for engineering design and review
- Strong knowledge in Rockwell and Allen Bradley PCS Hardware and Software
- Strong knowledge in Variable Speed Drives (VSD) and Soft Starters
- Knowledge of HV/LV distribution system design, Electrical Substation and sub circuit distribution system design and engineering
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a wide variety of people
- Keen to join a major manufacturing plant which is investing heavily in their assets long-term.
