Contract Manager - Projects

About the role

Based in Whyalla and reporting to the Capital Strategic Sourcing Manager, the key contribution from this role involves the engagement of contractors and suppliers. You will also contribute to the success of major and minor capital projects across Liberty Primary Steel and SIMEC Mining, through end-to-end contracts and procurement management.

As well as maintaining business partnering relationships, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Preparing tender documentation, evaluating tender proposals, and awarding major construction contracts and other significant procurement packages
  • Understanding contract requirements, including terms and conditions and scope of work, and the rights and obligations of all parties
  • Contract and procurement risk management
  • Strategic negotiation to deliver best for business outcomes on price, quality, schedule, and compliance with the Company’s commercial positions
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Auditing contractors to verify compliance to the agreed standards and contract requirements
  • Developing and implementing strategies to rectify non-compliance in contracts and dispute resolution.
  • You are experienced in managing a complex organizational environment and are highly skilled in building strong internal and external relationships.

About your experience

Your value will be seen through your demonstrated ability across insightful market and business engagement and analysis to get the right balance of outcomes on cash, profit, risk, and speed through the lifecycle of a contract. 

Alongside your experience in negotiating large, complex contracts you will also possess the following:

  • High level negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good local and national market knowledge
  • Good understanding of contractual and legal terms and conditions
  • High Level analytical skills with proven ability to model, analyse and summarise data
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating and implementing contracts, including a thorough knowledge of legal requirements
  • CIPS qualification (desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Purchasing or similar or equivalent experience.
