Concentrator South Maintenance Lead
About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, the Mechanical Maintenance Lead will ensure planned maintenance and repairs that support the asset maintenance strategy and long-term asset plan are executed safely, effectively, and efficiently within the Crusher, Global Water and TSF Maintenance area.
Main responsibilities will be:
- Support the maintenance and operational team as required in the day-to-day performance of Mechanical related equipment within the Crusher, Global Water and TSF Maintenance area
- Maximise the ratio of proactive, predictive, and preventive maintenance tasks to breakdown maintenance tasks for the Crusher, Global Water and TSF Maintenance area
- Safely manage contract maintenance service providers within the Crusher, Global Water and TSF Maintenance area
- Troubleshoot daily plant and equipment issues through application of trades skills and fault-finding techniques
- Proactively participates in Continuous Improvement Processes
About your experience
To be successful in this Lead position you will require the below skills and qualifications:
• Mechanical trade or Mechanical tertiary qualifications
• Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of maintenance planning, supervision and maintenance leadership in a mining, process plant or heavy manufacturing industry
• Demonstrated working knowledge of SAP or similar Computer Maintenance Management System
• Experience in a front-line leadership or supervisory role

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south west of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Our Tahmoor Colliery in New South Wales, is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant, producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Administration functions and ore pelletising and port facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.
The Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years. Our operations in Tahmoor NSW produce metallurgical coal for the steel making process where the business is currently investing to expand and extend the life of the operations.
