Category Specialist-Adelaide or Whyalla

About the role

The Category Specialist supports category excellence related activity and outcomes across all business units for both direct and indirect spend categories.

 

This responsibility includes supporting effective and efficient process & policies are implemented and maintained. Technical support and guidance, Continuous Improvement, Change Management, Governance support and base analytical support. This is an ‘all-rounder’ role.

 

  • Provide ongoing support to review, design and implement efficient process, policy & governance structures into Procurement

  • Maintain effective document repositories ensuring policies & procedures are available and remain up to date

  • Support the establishment of ESG strategies and ongoing support of ESG related initiatives

  • Support deployment of standardized methodology and tools across procurement

  • Establish, train and maintain standard practices supporting the category management effort

  • Support the Sourcing and Category Managers, contract owners and key stakeholders in managing contracts, participating as required in regular contract performance reviews and monitor contract performance against contract deliverables

  • Participate in efforts to improve capabilities, process & continuous improvement.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the Procurement Policy and Processes

  • Provide technical support to the Procurement function on the use of ERP systems

  • Provide category management support within procurement on identified categories or programs as identified/required

  • Work with the Category Managers on identified continuous improvement projects to drive value into the business

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Commerce/Business degree or similar

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in procurement or similar support role

  • Provide technical support to the procurement function on the use of ERP systems (SAP)

  • High level of computer literacy (including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point)

About Us

Liberty Primary Steel operates the historic Whyalla Steelworks, approximately 400km from Adelaide.  The integrated facility which includes ironmaking, steel making, and rolling-mill facilities is Australia’s only manufacturer of special grade billet and steel long products providing solutions for nation-building infrastructure including rail. It is also the future home of green steel with plans to construct an Electric Arc Furnace and Direct Reduction Iron facility fed by natural gas and hydrogen.
