Apprentice Trainer - Mechanical

About The Role

OneSteel Manufacturing, a member of the GFG Alliance operates integrated steelworks which include ironmaking, steel making and rolling-mill facilities located in coastal Whyalla, approximately 400 km from Adelaide.

The role of the Apprentice Trainer - Mechanical is to support upcoming talent for OneSteel Manufacturing. You will be accountable for building the Apprentices trade capacity in their respective discipline, which will result to a successful start to their career.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Developing, implementing and facilitating the Mechanical apprentice competency training program, with the governance framework
  • Facilitating the apprentice curriculum, including practical, theoretical and assessments
  • Managing the apprentice workshop environment
  • Building relationships and coaching the business in the management of the process

 

About Your Experience

We are looking to speak to Mechanical Trades people that’s worked in an industrial environment that will lead our apprentices to reach their full potential.

To be successfully considered for the available opportunity, we are looking to speak with people that have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Fitter trade qualification, including Certificate III Engineering, Fitter and Turner or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the Fitting trade
  • Experience as a facilitator and within a competency-based training environment preferred but not essential
  • High level literacy, including computer literacy
  • Strong communication and engagement skills
  • Understanding of and training experience in a manufacturing/mining operational environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of training methodologies and blended learning preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience in writing documents and other literacy preferred but not essential
  • Understanding and experience in development of training and assessment materials
