Accountant
About The Role:
This is a pivotal finance role supporting Whyalla Steelworks within a complex, capital-intensive environment. You will deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, lead month-end processes, and ensure the integrity of SAP FICO and TM1 systems.
Beyond core reporting, you will provide data-driven insights to strengthen overhead cost control, enhance cash forecasting, and support capital governance. As a trusted business partner, you will translate financial data into clear commercial insights that drive operational performance and informed decision-making.
The role is open to candidates located in Adelaide or Whyalla.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely month-end reporting, including accruals, journals, reconciliations and SAP close cycles.
- Prepare overhead cost reporting and provide clear variance analysis to functional leaders.
- Produce consolidated and departmental reporting packs with meaningful commentary.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including SAP budget uploads and forecast analysis.
- Prepare and monitor weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain financial integrity.
- Maintain stewardship controls, including inventory oversight and compliance checks.
- Manage fixed assets, including capitalisation, CWIP reporting, lease accounting and DOA checks.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain SAP FICO and TM1 data integrity and contribute to continuous process improvement.
About You:
- CAANZ or CPA qualified.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial or management accounting.
- Experience in standard costing (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of SAP FICO.
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive, positive attitude.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- High attention to detail and stakeholder influencing capability.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
