About the role

We would like to invite recent or soon-to-be graduates to take part in our 2027 Graduate Program. We have two Graduate Trader roles available at Recycling - Wacol. 
  
Real Work with Real Outcomes – Starting in January 2027, our program offers a two-year fixed-term contract with the potential for permanent placement. This immersive, hands-on program provides practical learning through hands-on experience and meaningful work.  
  • Participants will complete two 12-month rotational placements, gaining a comprehensive technical and commercial skills training blend. 
  • The program includes continuous coaching, mentorship, and formal training, allowing participants to rotate through diverse business units. 
  • This structure ensures a thorough understanding of operations and strategic initiatives, combining on-the-job learning with formal education. 

Key Areas of Exposure

  • Play a direct role in driving sustainability by connecting local recycling supply with local and global demand for recycled metals – including our own patented, world-class Sense 600 recycled steel. 
  • Source and secure recyclable metal from local suppliers, building strong relationships with industry participants. 
  • Learn how recycled metals are priced, negotiated, and traded in real‑time local and global markets. 
  • Gain exposure to international trading, including exports and logistics. 
  • Work alongside experienced traders and sales leaders, developing commercial, negotiation, and market analysis skills.   
 
We are seeking adaptable, motivated individuals who demonstrate: 
  • A strong foundation in Trading, Sales, Marketing or Finance 
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills  
  • Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to learn 
  • A proactive approach to learning, teamwork, and safety 
  • A commitment to driving continuous improvement and making meaningful contributions to the business.

Eligibility Criteria: 
  • A genuine passion for Trading and Sales within the operational context of steel manufacturing and distribution. 
  • Australian/NZ citizenship or a visa granting unlimited working rights. 
  • Completion of an Australian tertiary degree within the past three years (or set to conclude in 2026). 
  • Less than two years of full-time, discipline-specific work experience. 
 
 Note: Successful placement into this program will be subject to pre-employment checks, including but not limited to criminal, qualification, medical, and reference checks.
