Water Treatment Plant Superintendent
About the role
As a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Superintendent at our coal mine in Tahmoor, you will be reporting to the Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) Manager and be responsible for the ongoing strategy and operations of the WTP and all site surface water, to ensure EPA compliance is met.
• Managing contractor and working with other departments to ensure that we’re finding efficiencies in water management
• Reviewing contractor performance regarding management of the plant
• Reviewing the performance of WTP daily to check the amount of water treated, quality of permeate discharged etc.
• Monitoring the water levels and quality of water in dams
• Reporting daily on the WTP performance at the site Daily Reporting Meeting (DPR)
• Setting and maintaining supplies and budgets to maintain optimal operations
• Maintaining strong systemic connections with various departments, superintendents and managers
• Engaging in risk management and assessments of the water related processes and operations onsite
• Working in closely with the Environmental department to maintain compliance with licensed discharge requirements
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of the site water management and reducing costs to mine
About your experience

• Previous experience in managing water treatment processes
• Engineering or Science degree, preferably in Process, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Electrical or Mining
• Previous work in a mine site is beneficial
• Background in chemical or water quality
• Strong leadership qualities and ability to work proactively
• Work autonomously without much guidance and have true ownership of the site water strategy.
• Good at analysing data regarding various aspects of the plant regarding its functioning, quality, efficiency
