WHS Compliance Coordinator
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a WHS Compliance Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Mining Engineering you will be the first point with the regulator and support the delivery of high-quality services by ensuring we remain complaint with legislation, regulations, and contractual obligations.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and analyzing audit results to identify areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions to management
- Conduct risk assessments and risk mitigation activities with all relevant stakeholders
- Conduct/facilitate root cause analysis investigations
- Monitor compliance with applicable legal and corporate requirements
- Maintain a healthy and safe workplace by adhering to the relevant statutory obligations, policies, standards, systems & processes
- Maintain and update the Resources Portal and the Mine Record for the site
- Develop and maintain the intranet document control management system
- Keep up to date with any legislative changes pertaining to the business and ensure to communicate these changes to management
- Keep up to date with safety alerts relevant to the industry and business and communicate to management
About your experience
We are seeking an experienced and qualified candidate that has the ability to guide, influence and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve the desired compliance outcomes.
You will also possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications or Diploma in Work Health and Safety
- Certificate in Health and Safety auditing
- Experience in coal mining or the resources or heavy industry
- Highly developed administrative and organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve and effectively liaise with a diverse range of people
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety management systems and industry best practices
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Experience and skills utilizing risk assessment databases and software
Knowledge or experience in the following would be advantageous:
- Knowledge or experience with NSW WHS legislation and Mines and petroleum sites legislation
- Experience in conducting Risk Assessments ICAM investigations
- Experience with Risk software such as Risk DNA / Cority
About our team
SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in NSW and SA. Our Tahmoor Colliery in New South Wales, is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant, producing high quality coking coal for global markets.
Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south west of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Administration functions and ore pelletising and port facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.
Our operations in Tahmoor NSW produce metallurgical coal for the steel making process where the business is currently investing to expand and extend the life of the operations.
The Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years.
