Commercial Analyst

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Analyst to join our underground coal mine team and drive success. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be working closely with the Tahmoor Commercial Team and the GFG Corporate Commercial function. You will be responsible for delivering both Financial and Management Accounting outcomes for Tahmoor Coking Coal.

 

YOUR Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Weekly, quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting;
  • Month-end reporting including commentary for site and corporate requirements in association with the Financial Controller; 
  • Cost control management working with budget owners to sustain a live forecast including identifying P&L pressure points, analysing outcomes, comparing and assuming scenarios;
  • Lead monthly look-ahead sessions granularly defining actuals, wins and losses; 
  • Assist with month end accounting processes and associated data analysis;
  • Reconciliations, financial reports, and other tasks as required;
  • Deploy ad hoc financial analysis and processes to meet business KPIs;
  • Identify trends and drive business improvement initiatives with leaders and stakeholders;
  • Interface regularly with site stakeholders, commercial team and corporate members.

 

You will be someone who values teamwork and continuous improvement. You will be a goal oriented and an engaging team player. Your experience in a large industrial or mining organization will be beneficial for this role.

 

  • Experience in a financial/management accounting role;
  • Experience preparing Budgets, maintaining Forecasts, and linking actual results to these documents;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or with CPA/CA/CFA designation is desirable;
  • Understanding of general accounting, accounting principles, accounting journals and accruals etc;
  • High level of competency with SAP and accounting tools like Xeras and TM1 are highly regarded;
  • Effective communication skills in engaging people across the business;
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Be a strategic and agile thinker with the ability to diagnose issues and recommend actions plans for resolution;
  • Great can-do attitude and the ability to think on your feet.
