Trade Counter Operator
About the role
We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused Trade Counter Operator to join our successful and tight-knit team at our Silverwater branch. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll be the first point of contact for our trade and industrial customers—helping them find the right products, placing orders, and providing solutions that keep their businesses moving.
You’ll work closely with both our Sales and Operations teams to ensure every customer interaction—whether in person, over the phone, or via email—is a positive one.
What you will be doing
- Serving trade and industrial customers at the front counter and over the phone
- Processing cash sales, quotes, and orders accurately
- Managing stock levels
- Merchandising
- Handling customer enquiries and providing tailored product advice
- Building strong relationships with regular trade customers
- Receiving stock and checking invoices
- Supporting general admin and sales tasks as needed
What we are looking for
- Experience in retail or trade counter sales, ideally in an industrial, hardware, or manufacturing environment
- Strong over-the-counter customer service skills with a focus on building rapport
- Confident communication and problem-solving abilities
- Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience with Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge is a bonus
- A team player who’s reliable, proactive, and ready to learn
