Tax Manager

About the role

Reporting into the Head of Tax, our Tax Manager will work with the broader GFG Alliance tax team to prepare direct and indirect tax compliance obligations and advisory needs for the Australian businesses.
 

*This role will offer the successful incumbent to work on average 3 days from the Sydney CBD head office and 2 days WFH, on a 12-month fixed term contract.
 

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
 

  • Preparation of accurate income tax returns, quarterly and financial year tax effect accounting calculation and reporting for allocated business units

  • Develop and manage relationships with various in-business stakeholders and provide necessary support from tax including provision of both verbal and written advice in response to BAU and transactional requests from the business

  • Assist the team with tasks required as part of tax regulatory authority reviews and audits

  • Other duties as required by the business

 

We are seeking a proactive individual with strong attention to detail who can work independently but also enjoys working collaboratively within a strong team environment. You will be highly experienced and knowledgeable in income tax compliance, tax effect accounting and tax reporting, as well as a demonstrated ability to support various stakeholders across different levels. You will enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment and will be used to working on multiple projects.
 

Our ideal candidate will also have:
 

  • CA or CPA qualification.

  • Proven experience in a large, chartered accounting and/or in a large corporate in-house tax function.

  • Prior exposure to M&A and tax advisory assignments, including tax research.

  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.

  • GST, transfer pricing and international tax knowledge and experience would be a plus.

  • Demonstrated evidence of strong technical proficiency within Excel.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a hands-on team player.
