Reporting to the Engineering and Site Infrastructure Superintendent based at our Sydney Steel Mill (Rooty Hill). You will be leading the successful delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects within a heavy industry environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take ownership from concept through to commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. 

You shouls have a Mechanical or Electrical background and work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, you’ll play a key role in shaping project outcomes, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a high-performance, safety-first culture.

What you will be doing: 

• Lead the planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of assigned projects
• Take a proactive role in the preparation of proposals and project strategies
• Ensure clear alignment with client and stakeholder objectives, consistently meeting or exceeding expectations
• Deliver projects that achieve or outperform cost and schedule targets
• Provide strong HSE leadership, embedding safe systems of work and contractor management practices
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to optimise delivery outcomes
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cycle times and lower costs
• Contribute to the modernisation of engineering systems and processes
• Mentor and support team members, helping to build capability and drive operational excellence

You’re a driven and capable Project Manager with a strong technical foundation and a track record of delivering results in complex industrial environments. You bring a practical, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

What you will bring: 

• A Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in project management, ideally within heavy industry or manufacturing
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary project teams
• Strong knowledge of tendering, procurement and project delivery processes
• A commitment to safety as a core value, with a solid understanding of legislative HSE requirements
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules and competing priorities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and a continuous improvement mindset
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft tools (or similar systems)
• The ability to adapt project management approaches to suit different project needs and deliver the best outcomes**
