Market Analyst

About the role

As a Market Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in deciphering sales data across all business, shedding light on the dynamics of the Australian steel market and InfraBuild's market positioning. Your insights will empower senior management to make informed decisions. Your primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Consolidating Sales Data - Efficiently gather and synthesise sales data from various channels, segments, and markets, fostering a comprehensive understanding

  • Market Projections—Anticipate trends and opportunities, focusing on short—and long-term market projections, particularly within the recycling/metals industry. Additionally, look after the market model, making the mid-to long-term forecast based on economic drivers.

  • Develop and maintain robust data models and automated pipelines, utilising tools like Access database and Power BI reporting for seamless analysis. Own the model and recreate it using insights.

  • Translate complex findings into actionable insights, bridging technical analysis and practical decision-making gaps.

  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, understanding their information needs, and tailoring reporting methods accordingly.

  • Apply statistical techniques to interpret complex datasets, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes. Utilise import data - there's a huge amount of data and using the background knowledge into it.

About your experience

We seek a candidate who embodies a proactive attitude and exceptional communication skills to engage with stakeholders effectively. Your qualifications and experience should include:

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise with data science, data analysis and statistical analysis

  • Proficiency in systems including Excel (advance), Power BI with expertise in DAX, SQL or similar

  • Ability to analyse market intelligence and economic indicators to drive strategic decision-making.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability to navigate complex market landscapes.

  • Previous industrial experience, including manufacturing would be advantageous.

  • Strong sense of drive and ambition, aligned with both short and long-term goals.
