Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer

About the role

The Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer will aid with planning, design, and implementation of the Infrastructure and Cloud strategy for InfraBuild. You will assist the Security Operation Centre in ensuring InfraBuild assets are protected against cyber threats and deliver the ongoing operations of all areas of cloud technologies including private cloud and on-premise server environments and systems.
 

Reporting to the Technical Services Team Leader, you will act as a point of escalation and resolution for InfraBuild while assisting with system capacity planning to ensure appropriate growth and evolution of systems.
 

*This role will see the successful incumbent participating in an on- call roster & working on average 3 days from the office/site  and 2 days WFH.
 

*This role can be based in either Sydney ( Head office or Rooty Hill - Sydney Steel Mill), Newcastle (Mayfield) or Melbourne ( Laverton north – Steel Mill).
 

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
 

  • Design, implement, and support cloud and on-premise infrastructure

  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of services

  • Collaborate & assist the Security Operations Centre

  • Configure and maintain IT Infrastructure systems, to safeguard company data and information

  • Participate in IT Infrastructure projects, such as upgrades, migrations, and expansions, ensuring smooth and successful implementations

  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to IT Infrastructure, cloud technologies and server operating environments

  • Create and maintain detailed IT Infrastructure documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures

  • Ensure appropriate and essential planned maintenance of infrastructure is performed to reduce unplanned outages

Skills and qualifications required:
 

  • A Tertiary qualification in information technology or related field (or relevant experience)

  • Cloud certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate and AWS SysOps Administrator

  • Experience Cloud and IT Infrastructure in a large organisation

  • Solid understanding of Public cloud with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure and AWS

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office 365 Technologies

  • Experience with Physical and Virtual and Operating Environments Eg. VMware

  • Strong skills in automation of routine tasks using Powershell

  • Strong understanding of Cyber Security

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service focus and experience working with operations

  • Proven problem solving, organization and time management skills are essential
