We’re looking for a motivated and collaborative Steelmaker to join our supportive team at the Rooty Hill Steel Mill. You’ll be part of a large, experienced Rolling crew and report directly to the Shift Leader or Logistics Leader.
Our Steel Mill operates 24/7, and this role involves 12-hour shifts on a rotating 7-day roster (day and night shifts).
This is a 12-month contract position—an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to build confidence, learn new skills, and gain valuable experience in the steel industry.
What you will be doing:
- Comprehensive training across multiple areas of Steel Rolling and shipping
- Hands-on experience in a variety of manual handling roles throughout the full production process
- Opportunities to develop skills in crane and forklift operation
We’re seeking someone who is enthusiastic about learning the steel rolling process and interested in joining a global business with strong safety values. This role offers stability, support, and room for long-term career development.

What you will bring:
- Previous trades or labouring experience
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Basic computer literacy to learn HMI operation

InfraBuild manufactures steel using recycled scrap through our electric arc furnace network in Victoria and New South Wales.
Our integrated model, from recycling to rolling, supports consistent quality, supply reliability and the development of lower embodied carbon steel solutions for Australia’s construction industry.
