About The Role

Reporting to the Workshops Leader and based at our Rooty Hill site, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all boilermaking, fabrication, and structural maintenance activities within the Meltshop.
The role ensures the integrity, reliability, and safety of critical assets such as furnaces, ladles, tundishes, ducting, and steel structures
The position involves in managing day-to-day maintenance, planning shutdown tasks, supervising contractors, and ensuring all work is completed following established workflows—from identification and planning through to execution and closeout.
What you will be doing:
- Lead and supervise a team of boilermakers and welders, coordinating daily, shutdown, and project work while providing hands-on support, guidance, and coaching.
- Plan, schedule, and manage maintenance activities using SAP, including creating and tracking work orders, allocating resources, and ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget.
- Drive a strong safety culture, leading risk assessments, enforcing safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with site safety and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to align priorities, minimise downtime, and ensure high-quality delivery of maintenance and project work.
- Monitor work quality and performance, carrying out inspections and ensuring consistent fabrication and welding standards are maintained.
- Support continuous improvement and team development, contributing to process improvements, root cause analysis, and ongoing skills and competency growth within the team.

What you will bring:
- Proven leadership experience in heavy industrial or steelmaking maintenance within high-temperature environments.
- Strong technical expertise in welding, fabrication, ducting, and structural steel repair.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams to achieve operational goals
- Proficiency in SAP or similar CMMS systems, with strong planning and shutdown coordination skills.
- Solid understanding of WHS regulations, permit-to-work systems, and a commitment to safety and quality.
- Effective communication, problem-solving ability, and a focus on continuous improvement and teamwork.
