Join our 2027 InfraBuild Apprenticeship Program and earn while you learn in one of Australia's largest steel manufacturing businesses. Combining TAFE study with hands-on experience, our four-year apprenticeship program provides the opportunity to develop specialist trade skills while working alongside experienced industry professionals. 

 

With more than 100 years of steelmaking history in Newcastle, you'll rotate through different departments across our Newcastle operations, gaining broad exposure to our manufacturing environment and building the foundations for a rewarding career.

  • Electrical (Electrician) 

  • Mechanical (Maintenance Fitter)

Reporting to experienced Trade Supervisors and Mentors and based at our Newcastle site, you'll learn from industry experts while gaining nationally recognised qualifications. 

 

Program commencement: January 2027

What you'll be doing

  • Completing a nationally recognised trade apprenticeship through a combination of TAFE study and practical workplace learning 
  • Rotating through different operational and maintenance departments to broaden your technical experience 
  • Working alongside qualified tradespeople to develop hands-on trade skills and industry knowledge 
  • Contributing to a safe and productive workplace by following safety procedures and best practices 
  • Learning how to troubleshoot, maintain and improve equipment within a heavy manufacturing environment

What you will bring

  • Minimum Year 10 completion, with further schooling or study highly regarded (minimum 16 years of age). 
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a trade career as an Electrician or Maintenance Fitter.  
  • Strong commitment to safety and willingness to follow safe work practices. 
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating initiative and a willingness to learn. 
  • Reliable transport and the ability to travel to site and TAFE as required.
