About the Opportunity

Are you ready to kickstart an awesome career in the steel industry?

We're looking for Apprentices to join our 4-year InfraBuild Apprenticeship program, commencing January 2026.


InfraBuild has over 100 years of history in Newcastle, and this is your opportunity start an apprenticeship in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline. Our program combines theoretical TAFE study with hands-on, on-the-job experience, offering rotations through different departments on our Newcastle campus, learning from industry experts.  

 

Trade apprenticeships available: 

  • Electrician 
  • Boilermaker 
  • Machinist 
  • Maintenance Fitter

About You

We are looking for motivated, hands-on, logical thinkers who will step up and resolve problems. Initiative and commitment matter.  

 

As an InfraBuild Apprentice you will be: 

  • a minimum of 16 years of age and have successfully completed year 10 or above 
  • safety focused 
  • ready to soak up the knowledge of our specialists with your exceptional listening skills 
  • team orientated and willing to join a cohesive team 
  • mechanically minded, with a process orientated approach 
  • able to travel to and from site daily for assigned shifts and to TAFE as required

Next Steps

We will be holding Assessment Centres for selected participants to attend over the coming weeks. This will consist of: 

 

  • a presentation about InfraBuild; 

  • a face-to-face interview, to find out more about you and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions about us; and 

  • practical exercises to assess your teamwork, persistence, and mechanical thinking.
