Design Crane Engineer

About the role

The role supports the GFG Alliance Principal Crane Engineer and requires carrying out series of design and analysis work using FEA modelling software based on risk. Required design work will include, but not limited to the following:

• Long travel anti-derailment design in accordance with GFG Alliance Standards

• Runway assessments/design in accordance with AS14.18.18

• Assessment of crane design defects through FEA Modelling

• End Stop and buffer design

• Handrail / working @ heights design

• RFQ compliance checks

• Modification Design reviews

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attend site to collect data/measure-up

  • Apply engineering principals to develop 3D model using FEA Software

  • Assess current level of risk and provide detailed report

  • Carry our remediation design and prepare workshop drawings

  • Certify design in accordance with AS1418 series

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Structural (CPEng preferred)

  • Experience in systems management including Autodesk Vault Professional software

  • Strong knowledge of document management systems, data management, and version control

  • Ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and the effective use of Autodesk Vault Professional software and associated systems

  • Highly competent in the use of Inventor, Vault Professional and AutoCAD or similar
