Account Manager
About the role
As the Account Manager for our Newcastle, Hunter Region and Central Coast area, finding the right mix of what is best for business and best for the client is your number one priority to ensure you are creating an exceptional customer experience as well as finding new business opportunities.
You understand teamwork is critical to achieving this success. Working in conjunction with the Sales Team you will help drive a culture of work smarter not harder, through innovation, continuous improvement, and efficiencies.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying, understanding and developing customers and market offers to meet current and potential customer needs
- Developing and maintaining extensive market knowledge including competitors, suppliers, industry trends and products, along with customer specific forecasted materials
- Monitoring customer service standards including carrying out regular review meetings with selected customers to monitor achievement of mutual objectives
- Ensuring exceptional customer service and timely provision of quotations and response to customer needs
- Facilitating development opportunities for internal sales staff, including inviting them to attend sales visits, buddying with internal sales team members and provision of feedback
- Preparing sales forecasts and tracking actual volumes against forecasts
- Reviewing SAP reports and monitoring performance against budget – taking corrective action as required

You are a proactive and engaging team player with a customer-centric focus, who has a passion for building relationships and account management. You enjoy operating autonomously and have a high level of integrity.
You will also have:
- Proven sales record in steel, construction or manufacturing industries preferred but not essential
- Proven networking skills and an ability to build and strengthen customer connections
- Have effective time management and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of SAP, Salesforce or other CRM systems
- Possess a systematic and logical thought process in problem-solving; establish root cause and continuous improvement
- Maintain uncompromising standards on employee safety, quality, ethics, and a sense of fairness in dealings with employees
- Strong demonstration of achieving revenue and volume driven KPIs
- Financial & business acumen (including high level numeracy skills)
- Valid driver’s licence
