Machine Operator - Fixed Plant

Reporting to the Production Supervisor and based at our Mayfield site, you will operate wiredrawing machinery and support wire production in a safe, team-focused environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a long-term career, with structured on-the-job training and progression opportunities as your skills develop.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Operate wiredrawing machinery to support safe and efficient wire production.
  • Load and unload steel rod using a forklift and assist with material movement throughout the production process.
  • Prepare rod ends for machine welding using grinders, hydraulic wire cutters and other hand tools.
  • Monitor machine performance and quality to meet production targets.
  • Identify and resolve basic production issues to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Follow and promote safe work practices while maintaining a clean and organised work area.


The base rate is $32.92 per hour, plus 10% shift loading. This role operates on a rotating Monday to Friday roster, with weekly rotation across:

  • Night Shift: 9:30pm – 5:30am
  • Day Shift: 5:30am – 1:30pm
  • Afternoon Shift: 1:30pm – 9:30pm

Flexibility to work all shifts is required.

What you will bring:

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine willingness to learn new skills
  • Comfortable using hand tools and performing physically demanding work
  • Forklift (LF) licence or experience operating forklifts
  • Reliable transport, ability to work rotating shifts and successfully complete a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing
  • Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, construction or other hands-on work is highly regarded but not essential
