HR Advisor
About the role
Working closely with the National HR Manager and HR Business Partners, this newly created position will play a key role in delivering high quality HR advisory support to managers and employees across our Australian recycling operations.
The role provides guidance on policy interpretation, employment conditions, and day‑to‑day people matters. It also contributes to the resolution of less complex employee grievances and supports leaders in managing emerging performance issues. In addition, the position is involved across the full HR lifecycle for the recycling business and assists in the delivery of HR projects and initiatives tailored to the needs of the recycling division.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Provide advice on HR policies, procedures, employment conditions, and the interpretation of enterprise agreements and awards. Support managers in understanding and consistently applying the employment framework
- Support low to moderate complexity employee relations matters, including performance improvement processes and routine correspondence, while escalating higher‑risk issues
- Maintain accurate case records, track ER matters and actions, and prepare documentation for formal processes such as Fair Work and workers’ compensation matters
- Deliver timely advice to frontline leaders, build effective relationships with site supervisors, and support consultation activities
- Ensure advice aligns with legislation, policies, and industrial instruments, and identify and escalate potential compliance risks
- Support the delivery of people initiatives across the recycling business, including performance and remuneration cycles, engagement activities, policy updates, and corporate programs. Provide guidance on lifecycle activities such as onboarding, internal movements, and offboarding
Qualifications and experience:
- 2-4 years HR experience at an administrator / coordinator level, embedded in a business unit or as a HR advisor in a shared services environment
- Sound understanding of HR policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of Enterprise Agreements and Awards
- Experience responding to employee entitlement queries
- Understanding of basic employment legislation
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Clear and practical communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with staff across all levels of the business and confidence in providing advice to front line leaders
- Ability to manage sensitive conversations with guidance
- A current driver’s licence and own transport
