Environmental Officer
About the role
The Environment Officer will provide support to the Environment Manager and wider operations team in implementing and maintaining environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting continuous improvement across the organisations national operations consisting of 21 sites in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA.
This role can be based out of any of our NSW Recycling sites – Chipping Norton, Hexham, Wetherill Park or Newcastle.
Frequent travel across NSW and periodic interstate travel is required as part of this role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the review, maintenance, and improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001 requirements
- Identify and implement envrionmental improvement projects aligned to the national plan
- Assist in investigating and managing incidents and corrective actions, ensuring response and timeline requirements are met
- Ensure operational controls are reviewed, in place and documented for all applicable environmental aspects.
- Analyse and interpret environmental data to support decision-making and compliance reporting
- Maintain accurate environmental records and databases
Qualifications and experience required:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A full drivers licence and own vehicle
- Demonstrated ability in data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with regulators, internal stakeholders, and external consultants
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret technical information in areas of responsibility
- Experience in the waste, recycling, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors is an advantage
