About our team

Liberty Steel Wire, a member of GFG Alliance, services the Rural, Construction and Manufacturing sectors with manufacturing facilities in Newcastle, Geelong and Jindera.

About the role

Working as a full time, experienced Boilermaker/Fabricator in the Newcastle Wire Mill’s team, you will execute planned maintenance, fabrication and inspection tasks, identify opportunities for improvement and provide feedback via the maintenance management system. You will be required to complete all tasks safely and to a high quality. There will also be regular shutdown tasks requiring your input as an individual or working with other members of the team.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring availability and reliability of a variety of production machinery. This will include the execution of preventative and predictive maintenance as well as attending to breakdowns if the need arises.

About your experience

To be successful in this role, you will meet the below criteria:

  • Essential – Boilermaker / Fabrication trade qualification
  • Previous experience working on plant and equipment within a similar heavy industry will be viewed favourably. 
  • Preventative maintenance, breakdown and shutdown experience desirable
  • Ability to fabricate and weld to test standards
  • A current forklift and EWP high risk work licence and Confined space ticket is highly desirable, as is experience with SAP. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Self-starter who is focussed on outcomes and keen to contribute to the business as a whole
  • Must be flexible enough to work shift occasionally when required.
  • Have a proactive approach, whilst holding safety, family, sustainability and change as core values
  • Confident communicator who can work unsupervised.
