About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Branch Manager with strong leadership skills to join our team at Mackay. You will be responsible for achieving business objectives and strategies of the production operations to optimise production efficiency and improve safety performance through the maintenance of standards, process control and problem solving. The priorities of the role will include:

  • Defining a new and accountable operational culture through establishing and maintaining high standards for safety and operational efficiency
  • Monitoring the performance, competency and capability of people
  • Carrying out daily toolbox meetings to ensure clear and concise communication of WHSE-related information
  • Modelling and supporting a strong focus on customer service across the business and within the branch in meetings and other venues
  • Monitoring and reporting progress to achieve business targets; implement systems and processes to achieve and realign performance to targets
  • Working cooperatively with key internal customers in Scheduling and Planning to implement production plans.

About your experience

We are looking for a motivated and safety-oriented leader with strong management style, great problem-solving skills and effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a resilient and solutions-oriented manager with mechanical aptitude, good computer skills and the ability to pick up new systems fast. We would love to speak to candidates with the following:

  • Min. 5 years of experience in Production Manufacturing or similar background preferably in heavy industry including at least 2 years of experience in a frontline leadership role
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership with experience implementing Safety Systems
  • Demonstrated experience in Customer Service and Customer Management
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable for how and what results are achieved, keeping people informed and confronting people when improvement is required
  • Machine operations experience and ticketing experience would be an advantage
  • Previous industry experience (recycling or scrap metal) is preferred.
