Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing business objectives and strategies of the production operations across the Mackay site to optimise production efficiency and improve safety performance through the maintenance of standards, process control and problem solving.

 

The Mackay Branch Manager is a critical operational control role, accountable for stabilising performance, enforcing standards, and driving safety, communication, and accountability across Ferrous and Non-Ferrous operations in the yard. The role bridges strategy and execution to deliver consistent, safe, and sustainable operations. The position provides a platform to strengthen operational discipline, maintenance alignment, production coordination and safety leadership across the recycling operation.

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Lead and inspire a team of supervisors and operational employees across a busy, high-volume recycling facility
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring every employee and contractor returns home safely each day
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, balancing production, maintenance, logistics, and customer requirements
  • Drive performance against production, cost, and operational targets while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Trading, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to optimise material flow and maximise site efficiency
  • Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and performance leadership
  • Take ownership of site profitability, asset utilisation, and operational excellence across the branch

What you will bring:

  • Qualifications in Safety and business and/or operations management highly regarded
  • Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, processing, mining, recycling, logistics, or a similar operational environment
  • Strong safety leadership experience and commitment to fostering a positive safety culture
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational performance, manage priorities, and deliver results
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels
