Reporting to the Operational Excellence Manager and based at our Sydney site, you will be accountable for leading the technical performance of the Sydney Steel Mill. You will drive sustainable improvements in product quality, process capability, and equipment efficiency, while supporting a safe, reliable, and flexible manufacturing operation that consistently meets customer needs and evolving market demands.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting the Manufacturing segment by functioning as a Subject Matter Expert in Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Furnace and Billet Casting steel making and processing technologies
  • Research and development of new applied technology where applicable
  • Scanning the environment to identify new opportunities for commercialised technologies
  • Providing hands-on technical support for new technology projects, from development through to commissioning and implementation
  • Coach and mentor engineers and graduates in technology applications
  • Advance the environmental sustainability of the operations within Manufacturing, by Carbon footprint reduction

  • Extensive knowledge of steel manufacturing technology
  • Significant experience and demonstrated record of achieving results in a similar heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong business acumen complimented by problem solving and analytical skills
