Senior Network Engineer

About the role

Working with a group of highly skilled professional engineers and external vendors, the Network Engineer leverages operational expertise, strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on project skills to deliver high-quality network services supporting business-critical and mission-critical infrastructure.

The engineer has a passion for providing customer service possessing strong verbal and written communication skills with a “Can Do” attitude.  

Proven experience with enterprise networks specifically technical skills in Cisco LAN switches, VeloCloud SDWAN, Palo Alto Firewalls and Aruba Wireless Networking is required, ideally with current relevant industry certifications.    


This role will also include maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies, practices and trends in networks and telecommunications

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with IT colleagues to provide daily operational support.
  • Work with internal SMEs and external vendors to design, implement, and maintain high-performing and secure network infrastructure.
  • Provide specialist network advice and technical project services, supporting key business projects.
  • Perform proactive maintenance across all in scope systems, ensuring systems are up to date, stable and secure.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver customer solutions.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation

 

Required experience:

More than 4 years of experience in a large corporate enterprise network encompassing the following:

  • Cisco enterprise networking technologies.
  • Network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds).
  • Next Generation Firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto).
  • Enterprise wireless networking (Aruba Networks).
  • Network automation tools (e.g., Cisco DNA Centre).

 

Understanding of network switching and routing as related to Unified Communications

Practical knowledge of application and network infrastructure protocols

 

Preferred experience

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Poly Video Conferencing solutions
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Voice and Call Centre technologies

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Network, Telecommunications or Information Technology, or combination of education and related experience
  • Cisco CCNP, CCNP wireless (or similar vendor certifications)
  • ITIL certification preferred.
